Malaysian Democracy Is Well and Truly Dead...

Picked this up from Hannah Yeoh's blog. This little cili padi is a no-nonsense person from what I can see. She sticks by her principles, is very hardworking and focussed on serving her constituents.

She's definitely not one for political theatrics as she's very low-key person. Even through the many political upheavals and scandals in this country, she hardly ever comments about them in her blog. Instead, she focuses on updating on what's happening in her constituency and what she's doing about it.

So for her to hgihlight this piece of news, it must be very alarming indeed! AND INDEED IT IS!

Emergency motion

I am now writing this during lunch break at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly. At 2:30pm today (Friday 13 March 2009), if you follow the live online streaming, you will be able to witness the emergency motion put forward by Kampung Tunku, Lau Weng San. This emergency motion will debate on the revelation exposed by Bukit Antarabangsa, Azmin Ali two days ago - the discovery of the formation of a Mesyuarat Jawatankuasa Kerja Tindakan Persekutuan Negeri Selangor Bil.1/2009 held on the 26 February 2009 by the Prime Minister's Department.

One of the objectives of this committee is to ensure that Barisan Nasional captures Selangor back in the 13th General Elections. Unbelievable! Their "people centric" programs focus on giving funds to the people of Selangor ("voters?").

The most unbelievable part is this - guess who sits in this committee? Hold your breath, here's the list:

Chairman :
Pejabat Pembangunan Negeri
Members :
Majlis Keselamatan Negara,
Jabatan Belia dan Sukan,
Jabatan Penerangan Malaysia,
Jabatan Hal Ehwal Khas,
Jabatan Kemajuan Masyarakat,
Jabatan Perpaduan Negara dan Integrasi Nasional and
SURUHANJAYA PILIHAN RAYA!!

The Election Commission of Malaysia - where is the independence?

Watch the emergency motion and the debate which will begin soon!

--------------------

What's shocking is not just the EC joining forces to find ways to grab back Selangor for BN.

It's that government departments are roped into it as well! Aren't they supposed to be neutral in their duties? Governments change every election! And they are supposed to serve the people, no matter who is in government at any time! As it is now, it seems that they are serving UMNO/BN! UMNO reigns - to hell with the people, is that it?!

This is what is causing our country's systems and institutions to collapse - when govt departments are partisan and refuse to cooperate and obey the PR government! Clearest example are the scandalous fiascoes in Perak - and UMNO/BN is desperately hoping the people are stupid enough to believe their lies!

Sorry la beb! No can do!
